It’s been a few years since Delta Lacrosse has had any of our teams participate in the annual May Day Parade, taking place the last weekend of May in Ladner.  This event is so much fun for the kids (usually mini-tyke to novice age) to take part in, as well as great advertising for our association!   However, we need a parent (or group of parents) to take on the role of organizing this event.  The DLA Executive has prepared an information sheet on the May Day Parade and are hopeful that this guide will assist whoever steps forward.

Delta Field Lacrosse is offering a FREE Field Lacrosse program for all boys and girls aged 5-8 years old from the Delta area this year.  Please click here for flyer with more information.

Please help spread the word.  This is an excellent opportunity for kids to take advantage of learning the basics of field lacrosse to see if they are interested in playing in the fall.   Anyone can register for this intro program – they do not need to be currently enrolled with DLA this year.   For more information and registration forms please contact mare.schwan@gmail.com or visit the Delta Footmen website.

The second annual 12 hour lacrosse game and fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society was held at LLC on April 14, 2012, from 8:00am til 8:00pm.  An unofficial total of $15,000 was raised to fight cancer.  Special thank yous to organizers Angie Schwan, Angela Smith and Kelly Robinson for all their hard work and to their battalion of volunteers that helped out over the 12 hour event.  Click here for story in the Delta Optimist.

Delta Lacrosse Association is excited to announce that the Delta School District will be opening a Lacrosse Academy at Delta Secondary School starting September 2012. This academy is for boys and/or girls in Grades 9-12, living either inside or outside the Delta School District catchment.

Like all other sports, volunteers are a very necessary part of Delta Lacrosse.  The coaches are all people who volunteer their time for the kids.  They need assistants and a manager to help run the team.  At every home game parents are needed to score keep, time keep and run the shot clock.  There also needs to be someone to do 50/50 and bring drinks for the kids after the game.  Generally all of these positions are filled once the team is together. As well there are many opportunities to volunteer for the Association.  If you feel that you are able to offer your skills or take on any of the positions currently vacant or work together with someone to lighten the load please contact Darcy Phillips at 604-946-8299   president@deltalacrosse.ca.

Anyone interested in coaching or assistant coaching positions should contact Patty Burr at vpminors@deltalacrosse.ca.

Any players interested in being a referee, please contact Tim Winter at 604-946-8921 or headref@deltalacrosse.ca.  There are referee clinics offered a couple of times at the beginning of the season for new and returning referees.

The Delta Lacrosse Association promotes good sportsmanship, fair play, respect, and skills in the game of lacrosse, in both non-competitive and competitive divisions.  In non-competitive divisions the focus is on having fun while developing basic skills and teaching the game of lacrosse.  In competitive divisions the focus is to put out the most competitive team available for the caliber within the division.  The level of skills development and teaching the game of lacrosse increase with the caliber or division that is being played.

Delta Lacrosse offers a FREE lacrosse stick to all first time Mini-Tyke players.  Please come and join the fun and excitement that is LACROSSE.

If you are looking for equipment requirements, forms, arena addresses, contact information or other interesting information please check our various pages and links.  Once the schedules come out we will post the links to them under the various teams on our site.  If there is anything you cannot find on our site or anything you would like to see added, please contact us at postmaster@deltalacrosse.ca.

Have fun and enjoy the season.
